Now, she's motivated" Susan W. Bountiful, UT "The approach that you've taken has helped me improve so many different aspects of my playing" Frank M. Park City, Utah "This is so much fun!" Paige S. Salt lake City, Utah Passionate, Supportive and encouraging, I guide students step-by-step toward mastery of the keyboard and musical expression. My method as a teacher is to streamline the learning process by quickly removing obstacles and guiding students toward their goals at a natural and unforced pace. I provide a solid foundation in musicianship and keyboard technique so that students are empowered to explore any kind of music that they wish. Igniting passion and imagination of students, and providing them with the tools to realize their highest potential is the basis of my teaching. Lessons emphasize correct hand position and fingering, sight- reading, rhythm, harmony, musical structure, ear training, improvisation, composition, and music history. Students are shown how to practice in the ultimate effective manner using muscle memory and repetition as a base, and leave the lesson invigorated, knowing exactly what and how to prepare for the next lesson. Because every student is unique, each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual strengths, challenges, and interests. The student’s musical preferences are incorporated into lessons because students are more likely to practice the music that excites them. Generally speaking, piano beginners advanced to intermediate level within 8 months. As a full-time working musician, I am a piano soloist, accompanist, music teacher, writer-composer, as well as a performer at a dueling piano club in Salt Lake. I have a passion for teaching, and have been providing instruction for several years on a Petrof P125 F1 upright in my home studio in Murray. My students are a diverse group, from children to adults of all ages and abilities. Some are experienced musicians seeking advice on technical issues as well as new perspectives of interpretation. Others are dedicated amateurs eager to develop their pianistic skill as a means of artistic fulfillment and personal growth. I want to help you to play any and every type of music that you'd like. I've had over a decades worth of intense training in classical music. I've played Rhythm and Blues music for almost a decade and popular music since I was a teenager. I absolutely love teaching music to people and opening up their minds to the possibilities that this hobby can give them! You'll always be able to enjoy music, at any age, and any ability level. My program offers a variety of different techniques from ear training, to music appreciation, to chord technique and technical security. I want you to be a great overall musician and when you play in my studio I will ensure that we have measurable progress EVERY SINGLE week. I use books like the Suzuki Method, John Thompson Modern Course for piano, Hannon, Scale Techniques, Ear Training, Encore, the Alfred Piano Series, and much more!
